Sleep over in an authentic historic building in Mechelen

We would like to welcome you to our B&B In den Roden Schilt.

Since 2017, we welcome you in our 2 rooms and 2 studios.

As a young couple we travelled around the world. When it was time to find a place of our own our eye fell on a house in the Sint-Katelijnestraat ‘Mansion in the city with large garden’. After visiting the house our hearts said ‘wonderful’ and our minds ‘what are we getting into’. After 10 years of restoration, the property was ready to receive guests.

As a guest you can choose from two rooms: Rumoldus or Alexius. These names do not come out of the blue, but refer to the patron saints of the St. Catherine, Rombouts and Beguinage churches respectively, all three in the immediate vicinity of the B&B. The rooms themselves may not be holy, but they are blessed to sleep in. Because make no mistake: the house and its furnishing may breath history, behind our baroque facade lies contemporary comfort.

In 2021 two studios were added to the neighbouring building. The souvenirs of our travels have found a place in these guest rooms.

We’d like to welcome to our place

Ruben & Nathalie, your hosts

Engels:

“Great stay · The owners were very sweet and were very passionate about the town and gave us a lot of good tips. The breakfast was great and served in the dining room of the house. The house itself was beautiful and although completely renovated, still had a lot of original elements. Also a very nice town with more than enough restaurants, bars and shops. But also a lot of old, beautiful houses and small cute streets.”

Duits:

“Familiäres, liebenswürdig geführtes B&B in guter Lage.
